Creativity is important in any work or business operation, but it is not always the easiest thing to access. We can get so bogged down in practical details and the mundane every day stuff in our home business that the last thing we are able to do is get those creative juices flowing. I do think, however, that there are things we can do to stimulate and celebrate the flow of creativity that can help us grow and build our businesses.
I may not know much but what I have learned is that the better I feel, the more creative I can be. This means that when I am stressed, exhausted and tense I just cannot muster much creativity. Now, I know that there are those people who feel like they work best under pressure, but I think a person has to feel good—confident, inspired, and energized—in order to thrive under pressure. When I feel horrible, all I can muster is just getting by.
So if I need to get those creative juices flowing, I try to do something that makes me feel good—going for a walk or having lunch out with a friend or colleague; even taking a nap or making something scrumptious to eat can be basic things I do to get the creativity generating in my work life. Additionally, I have to admit that my creative endeavors can be affected by the weather—I just seem to feel more creative when the sun is out or there is something fun going on weather-wise. Even a thunderstorm or a snowstorm can inspire me to problem-solve or think more creatively.
If you are feeling stuck in a rut or like you just cannot figure out what to do to get things moving in your business, you might consider doing something you enjoy instead of hammering away at the problem. Get those endorphins up, get to a place where you feel good about yourself and what you are doing and that may be all you need to get the creative juices flowing again.
