Want to know how to keep your little one in diapers without going broke? Here are some practical tips that will help you save money while you keep baby’s bum clean and dry.
Little ones certainly go through a lot of diapers, don’t they? Knowing that the average diaper can cost $.30 or more is discouraging when you are frugal minded. And isn’t it frustrating to change a diaper when five minutes later it needs to be changed again?
You could go with cloth diapers. In fact, you can read all about the best ways to save money if you use them. Just click here for the full article. But for our family, we have chosen to use disposables. And so, I’ve learned a few tricks along the way to help save money on disposable diapers. Here are some of my secrets. I’d love to hear yours!
Be flexible
One of the things that helps me save money on diapers is the fact that I am very flexible when it comes to brands. Sure, there are some brands that I prefer over others, but at the end of the day, the brand that will save me the most is the one I purchase. I look to combine coupons and sales whenever possible, or I choose an off-brand of diapers if that is the best deal. But, this all has to be within reason.
The info on generics
Bargain brands and generics can save lots of money, but you still have to be selective about which ones you choose. Many generic diapers are just fine; they absorb well and have stretchy tabs, even if they don’t have “custom fits,” popular characters, or extra lined pleats. But there are some generics that will cost you money because they leak or don’t absorb well. How can you tell the difference? The best way is to ask around. Major store brands, such as BJs, Walmart, Giant, Acme, etc. are generally pretty good. And you can never really go wrong with Luvs, which is not really a generic, but more of a bargain brand. It is made by Pampers and has built up quite a reputation for producing low cost but good diapers.
