I hope you’ve been looking at you life and keeping a list of the gift or blessing from each day. As I look back at Sunday, it’s hard to pick just one. I ended up with a list.
The morning started with a quiet time with the Lord reading Isaiah 43. I love the book of Isaiah. It is filled with promises and reassurance from the Lord. Isaiah 55:12 was the promise God gave us and reiterated often, as we waited for his timing for our move. I have something to share with you about that too, that hit me yesterday. But that’s the subject for another blog.
Back to Isaiah 43. Look at how God speaks to Israel, ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine,’ verse 1. For those of us who have made Him a part of our lives, and accepted the salvation He offers in Jesus, these words also apply to us. As do the words in verse 2 assuring as that when life throws hard times and problems at us, the Lord himself will be with us. He will see us through them. Why? Because we are precious in His sight, verse 4.
The next gift or blessing for the morning was a message from our daughter telling us that the problem she’d rung me about the day before, had been left in God’s hands. What a blessing it is to know that both our adult offspring are committed to following God and that the life partners they have chosen are also committed and godly. My daughter also mentioned how she’s looking forward to spending time with us soon and I praised God that we have a good relationship with both our son and daughter and enjoy each other’s company.
Then, being Sunday here, since we are a day ahead of the U.S. time wise, we had church. What a blessing our new church is. One of the ladies yesterday summed it up perfectly. ’It’s just like a family.’ It is – a family where God’s word is faithfully taught, where people are joyous and committed in their faith, not to mention welcoming to newcomers.
As it was a long weekend in Australia, the South Coast area was alive with activities. The hardest part was making a choice between going to the Lady Denman Festival, the Berry Garden Lovers’ Festival or the Bay and Basin Opera Group concert. We opted in the end for the concert and spent a delightful afternoon listening to six men and women sing selections from operas by Mozart and Donizetti, to Gilbert and Sullivan and Sondheim, and especially enjoyed the inclusion of Agony from Into the Woods, one of my husbands favorite musicals.
We capped the afternoon off with a long walk along the waters of the Basin. Three wind surfers took advantage of the wind blowing. By the time we came back from the hour and a quarter walk we were happy to collapse in the chair and read for a while before we thought about making dinner.
That’s a few of my gifts or blessings for Sunday. What gifts or blessings did you find in your day? As we share them, we can encourage and perhaps be a blessing to others.
