Are you sick of being pregnant? Make a list of all the things you miss right now. For one, it will help get it off your chest. Second of all, it will give you something to look back on next year. You’ll gain a new appreciations for life’s smallest luxuries. It can also help cure “baby fever” in the future.
Here are some things that I remember missing when I was pregnant with my son:
- 1. Sleeping on my stomach
- 2. My favorite jeans
- 3. The ability to buy clothes anywhere
- 4. Being able to zip up my coat
- 5. My favorite facial toner (contained salicylic acid)
- 6. Lunch meat
- 7. Hot dogs
- 8. Caffeine (it’s okay to have some, but I was playing it safe)
- 9. Belts
- 10. Anonymity in public (everybody watches you when you’re sporting a big bump)
- 11. Walking without feeling like my hips were coming out the sockets
- 12. Being able to sit through an entire movie without having to leave in the middle to use the bathroom
- 13. The way hugging your husband feels when there isn’t a baby between you
- 14. The ability to run through the parking lot to the car when it’s pouring
Of course, there are some things that I miss about being pregnant sometimes, too.
- 1. The cute maternity clothes
- 2. The way everyone opens doors for you
- 3. Smiles from complete strangers
- 4. The feeling of your baby rolling around in your belly
- 5. Shopping for newborn outfits
- 6. Always having a little shelf to rest your arms, dessert plate
- 7. Ultrasounds: it’s incredibly neat to watch your baby move on the screen and feel it at the same time
- 8. Listening to the baby’s heartbeat
- 9. Chatting with other pregnant women, even if you don’t know them, and enjoying that instant connection
- 10. Taking seconds or thirds at dinner without any judgment
They say the grass is greener on the other side, and it’s never more true when it comes to pregnancy. When you’re trying to conceive, all you can think about is how much you want to be pregnant. Once you’re pregnant for a few months, all you can think about is how much you want to have the baby!
