The Great Cat Rehabilitation Project: Almost Complete

Houston, we don’t have a problem anymore!

At least, not the major ones we’d been having. The huge strides that started taking place between Tabby and Mr. Meow over a week ago continues to advance. All it took was Mr. Meow striking back. It looks as if Tabby’s reign of chaos is done.

Halleluiah!

What a rough few months it’s been. Obviously, her pregnancy had a lot to do with her behavior. More and more she behaves towards Mr. Meow like she used to when she very first arrived. Which wasn’t sweet or loving necessarily, but it also wasn’t with a single-minded determinedness to keep him confined to only one small section of the house.

It sure is nice to see Mr. Meow not only come into my office, but lay on my desk or on the extra chair. It’s nice to see his face peeking out the window waiting for Murph and me to return from a walk. It’s really nice to see him sprawled out on the piano again in his lounge singer pose.

It’s even nicer to see him and Tabby sharing my desk. Or being in the same room without the hissing and raised backs. And it’s nice to see Mr. Meow walking around the house again rather than scampering.

I’ve missed him. But he’s not 100% back yet. There’s two more Mr. Meow-specific characteristics he needs to display before I’ll know everything’s totally back to normal:

1) Shower time, and

2) Snuggle buggle bed time.

These funny ways he shows me he loves me both require him to venture upstairs, which he hasn’t attempted to do yet. I’m not sure Tabby would let him if he tried; she hasn’t for a long time now. But the day he does, and the day she lets him roam freely up there, that’s the day I’ll know the great cat rehabilitation project is complete.
