The Heart of Home Business

“”When you buy from a small mom business, you are not helping a CEO buy a third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, a little boy get his team jersey, a mom put food on the table, a dad pay a mortgage, or a student pay for college. Our customers are our shareholders and they are the ones we strive to make happy. Thank you for supporting small businesses!”” ~ Unknown

A small business or home business owner is following a dream and if that dream leads to a multi-million dollar company then all the better. However, I get a real joy in giving my loyalty to small businesses whenever possible. I am not opposed to CEOs buying third homes. I would love for my business to make millions. Who wouldn’t? Yet the small business is special and represents a hope we all have for success and a better future.

The spirit of the small business person is precious. The small business person has a heart and passion for his business. I appreciate the sacrifice, the sweat and tears, the drive and the trailblazing effort to make a business work. I understand what it takes as a home business person myself to make it work. I understand the joy of making your first dollar, the frustration of a slow start and the ache of failure. The motivation to support family and to give a better life is one close to my own heart. My efforts are not to glorify myself. I work hard to give a little girl dance lessons, to give a little boy a chance to play baseball, to buy the groceries and to pay the mortgage. My dream became rooted in the reality of caring for a family and leaving a legacy. My business may never be worth a million dollars but the example of the entrepreneurial heart is what I want to show my children. Remember when you support a small or home business you are helping to support an American family seeking the old fashioned American dream.
