The Hottest Halloween Items of 2022

McDonald's Halloween Happy Meal buckets.

October is the best time of the year for people who absolutely love Halloween! This year, companies like McDonald’s and Squishmallows are taking part of the fun. Get them before they run out of stock or disappear after a limited amount of time.

Bloomberg reported that McDonald’s has announced the return of the trick-or-treating trio. These are three, colorful, Happy Meal Pails that can double as a carrying case for kids who want to go trick-or-treating.

These colorful Halloween buckets first debuted in 1986, and could cause some nostalgia for parents who had one when they were kids. The Happy Meal Pails come in three types: an orange pumpkin named McPunk’n, a white ghost named McBoo, and a green bucket named McGoblin. All three will hit McDonald’s stores on October 18, 2022, and will continue to be sold through October 31st.

The National Retail Federation posted a release titled: “Halloween Participation Returns to Pre-Pandemic Levels with Record Spending”. According to the NRF, participation in Halloween-related activities will resume to pre-pandemic levels, with 69% of consumers planning to celebrate the holiday this year, up from 65% in 2021 and comparable to 68% in 2019. With the spike in participation, total Halloween spending is expected to reach a record $10.6 billion, exceeding last year’s record of $10.1 billion.

Of course, that doesn’t mean that parents should feel required to spend more than their budget can handle on Halloween this year.

The Original Squishmallows has several plush Halloween treat pails. They are soft and squishy, and can hold candy and other treats. Choose from Cam the Cat (a plush calico), Emily the Bat, Fifi the Fox, Holly the Owl (wearing a witch’s hat), or Stump the Skelton cat. Each one is priced at $19.99. When Halloween is over, the plush pails can be used to store other Squishmallows.

Crayon.com has some really cool Halloween coloring pages for kids of all ages. Some are more challenging than others, but all are kid-friendly content. Some coloring pages include: witches, trick-or-treaters, Jack’O Lanterns, and bingo cards. The coloring pages can be printed out.

Spirit Halloween posted a collection of the 12 coolest kids costumes for Halloween 2022. These include vampires, western wear, unicorns, witches, and those puffy T.Rex costumes. In addition, there are two deep-sea-themed costumes that are designed for kids who use wheelchairs. One version is a mermaid, and the other is a shark.
