The Importance of Young Women

Young Women is a truly important program. It is an opportunity for the young women to learn about the gospel, and more. The program should include opportunities for the young women to learn to care for their home and future family. It should also provide opportunities for the young women to build their self-esteem and develop positive peer relationships.

I have known several people whose young women leaders have made a huge difference in their lives. The leaders have taken the less active girls under their wings, and shared the gospel with them. Young women leaders also provide another positive role model about how womanhood can be achieved and carried out. If a young woman comes from a negative family experience, the interaction with her young women leaders can help to reverse those experiences.

The spiritual benefits of attending young women classes, camp and firesides are wonderful. This can be the first time that many of the young women truly feel the spirit. It may also be one of the only times that the young women have a chance to feel the spirit with their peers. It gives the young women a chance to gather together and build a testimony away from the worries of school.

The activities should offer a chance to learn a variety of important skills. They are also a great chance to build friendships with other members of the church. These friendships can really strengthen each young woman as she faces the difficult challenges ahead.

As I look back at my experience in Young Women, I am grateful for the positive example that each of my leaders provided me. I learned about different aspects of life from them. I am grateful that I could feel the spirit as I attended my classes. I am also grateful for the teachers who reached out to me when I was struggling with my testimony. The program is truly there to help each individual.
