The Koala Brothers

In Disney’s Koala Brothers, Frank and Buster are two koalas who live in the outback of Australia. They own an airplane, and every day they take to the skies, with the help of Ned, who holds the flags and helps them take off safely. While flying high over the ground, they keep their eyes open for someone who just might need their help. When they see such a person, they land, and do whatever they can to help their friends.

In fact, helping other people is the main focus of the entire show. For instance, in today’s episode, it was Penny the Penguin’s birthday. She was so excited, she showed up at the Koala brothers’ homestead a whole day early. Buster was given the job of keeping her busy so that all the other animals could finish putting together the birthday party, and on the morning of the big day, they surprised her with her own room at the homestead, decorated with all the things she likes best.

george The second episode focused on George, the elderly turtle who works as the postal carrier. He had a hole in the bottom of his satchel and kept losing letters out the bottom. He felt terrible about not being able to do his job, and was afraid that he would be replaced as the mailman. But then the Koala brothers pointed out that he had a hole in his bag, and made him a present of a new one, reassuring him that no one could ever take his place.

As with some of the other shows we’ve discussed here, the accent is a little strong and is at times hard to understand. But that’s my only criticism. Who can find fault with a show that teaches children how to care about other people, and that “helping others is lots of fun?”

Tristi’s Score: 7 for Education, 8 for Entertainment, and the Parent Annoyance Factor is 1.

The Koala Brothers airs on the Disney channel.
