The LDS Families Week in Review: April 2nd – April 8th

Gospel Doctrine:

This week’s Gospel Doctrine covers the upcoming lesson 13, “I Will Give Unto Thee the Keys of the Kingdom,” which involves Matthew 15:21-17:9. In “Great Is Thy Faith”, we examined the faith of the Canaanite woman who asked the Savior to heal her daughter, and how we can press on even when we seem to receive no answer to our pleadings. In The Signs of the Times, we considered the fact that we might look too often for the sensational and miss the small and simple signs of the Lord. In “Flesh and Blood Hath Not Revealed It Unto Thee”, we examined personal revelation and our testimonies. And in Focusing on Christ, we considered how the apostles were overwhelmed by the startling vision upon the Mount of Transfiguration, and took their eyes off the Lord.

Monday, April 2nd: In Dinner Discussions 2007 Spring General Conference, we examined ways to bring General Conference to our Monday dinner table. In General Conference: “Prophets in the Land”, we review Elder Holland’s talk about the importance of listening to General Conference and what it declares to the world. In Now Is the Time to Prepare, we discussed the various aspects of our lives that require preparation in order to return to the presence of our Heavenly Father. In Growing from General Conference, we discussed ways to take more from General Conference.

Tuesday, April 3rd: In Sharing Time Theme “He Lives!”, we discussed this month’s theme for Sharing Time in Primary and how we can help our children learn the songs and lessons. In Relief Society: The Blessings of Diversity, we talked about learning from the many different Relief Society sisters in our wards and stakes. And in Did You Miss Conference?, we looked at ‘other’ ways to watch General Conference for those who might have missed it. (By the way, the text and audio files are now up!)

Wednesday, April 4th: In Do You BYU – Online?, we looked at a fantastic online resource to watch the BYU channel. In Young Women: “Daughters of Heavenly Father”, we looked at Susan B. Tanner’s talk given during the Young Women’s session of General Conference. In Prophets, we talked about the relevance and importance of prophets in our lives today. In The Importance of a Parent, we talked about five things to consider as we parent our children. And in RS/EQ: Studying for a Testimony, we looked at how testimonies and scripture study relate.

Thursday, April 5th: In Top 10 Ways to Tell You’re an LDS Technogeek, we took a humorous look at the insanity of the technological world and how it relates to our crazy Mormon world. In Keeping Your Family History, we looked at some great ways to keep our modern family history. In Creating the Quiet Teaching Moments in Your Home, we looked at ways to teach our children with the Spirit. And in Young Men: Teaching Respect for Women, we examined how to teach our sons to be respectful towards the opposite sex.

Friday, April 6th: On April 6th, 2007, the Church celebrated its 177th birthday! In The Atonement and Forgiveness in Marriage, we looked at the necessity of forgiving our spouses, who we all know are wrong all the time but deserve our love and mercy…no, wait. In The Word of Wisdom Teaches Moderation, we talked about healthy lifestyles in combination with the Word of Wisdom. And in Embrace Provident Living, we talked about the various aspects that make up provident living.
