It’s always nice to wrap up the week and summarize, especially if you’ve missed our blogs (I know you’d never do that)! As we start getting ready for Sunday, let’s take a look at what we’ve covered getting ready for our lessons.
Sunday School
We started off the week by examining the mission of John the Baptist in Prepare His Way and Making His Paths Straight. John helped prepare those he preached to for the mortal ministry of Christ. We took a look at how we can help prepare those around us for His second coming. In Unquenchable Fire, we discussed the spiritual significance of the fire frequently referred to as punishment for the wicked. In The Ordinance of Baptism, we reviewed the baptism of the Savior, and how that leads to our own need to participate in this sacred ordinance. In The Temptations of Christ, we learn about the various way Satan tried to tempt Christ into betraying His divine potential. In Straightway & Immediately, we examined how four of the disciples did not hesitate when called by Christ.
Relief Society/Elders Quorum
The Relief Society/Elders Quorum lesson was a bit tricky this week, since each Bishopric will select its own message. My branch is examining Elder Bednar’s talk, “And None Were Offended,” and I tried to cover several of the principles he discusses. In Quick to Forgive, we looked at our need to forgive from a Christlike perspective. In Forbearance, we defined this little-used word and discussed its application in our lives. In Choose Your Feelings, we examined the way free agency enables us to choose not to hold a grudge, and touched on the power of the atonement in our daily lives. In Submitting Cheerfully and Patiently, we discussed the way Alma and his followers accepted the offenses committed against them, and how we can apply those principles in our lives. And in Stony Places, we took a look at how a refusal to come to church can deny you spiritual blessings.
General Articles
We had several other great blogs through the remainder of the week. In Scripture Journals, we talked about how writing down our thoughts and feelings can help enrich our daily scripture study. In Whom the Lord Calls, He Qualifies, we talked about our callings from the Lord and how He helps us to grow from them. In Count Your Blessings, we discussed how to stay positive in the midst of adversity. In Creating a Spiritual Home Environment, we looked at how we can make our home more inviting to the Holy Spirit. In Top 10 Things You Don’t Want to Hear From Your Kids During Sacrament, we took a humorous look at the things you definitely don’t want your kids to say when the chapel is quiet. And in General Conference From the Past: Preparing the Way, we read a Conference talk from several years ago that summarized the ministry of John the Baptist and compared how we, too, can prepare the way for Christ’s Second Coming.
Hopefully, these articles helped you in your spiritual walk!
