This diet claims to be revolutionary–don’t they all. None the less, I do recognize that different things work for different people. In reality this only makes sense. Everybody’s bodies are different and our weight struggles are different. Of course we will all respond differently to different diets. Nonetheless, regardless of which diet you choose to follow; be it a simple weight loss plan involving a small change in habits or a massive over haul–the way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you eat. With that said, let’s take a look at the magnetic diet.
This diet is based as much on retraining your mind to think healthily as it is on making good food choices. According to the magnetic diet, key components of healthy eating include meditation and affirmations. Meditation, in this case, is achieving control over your mind via ‘powerful’ breathing exercises. Participants are to attack the craving and urge to eat through breathing and simply willing themselves out of cravings.
Affirmations are positive statements that help retrain your mind to think. The idea is that we are a pessimistic people who see the glass as always half empty. Affirmations help retrain your mind to think hopefully. The basic idea here is that if you want your body to be beautiful on the outside, you must first make it beautiful on the inside.
Food Magnetism
Magnetism, as defined in this diet is not what you’re thinking of in the traditional sense. It is defined as a food’s ability to attract things. If you’re like me, you’re wondering what on earth does food attract? Apparently, dieters make food choices based on the food’s magnetic vitality, or it’s ability to attract health, wellness, energy, and vitality. On the reverse side are foods with contaminating magnetism–those that will attract sickness, disease, and depression.
Does all of this sound a little bit like Eastern mysticism to you? It is, as far as I can tell. However, consider these ideas:
*If you are a binge eater, basking in the glow of your ice cream mustache, and lacking the ability to say ‘no’ at a buffet–maybe a little ‘mind over matter’ training is in order.
*Magnetism or not, there are certain foods that if eaten in excess–make you sick. Other foods, make you healthier and stronger.
*Eastern mysticism this might be, but I have met very, very few over weight Asians.
So buy into to the meditation or not, controlling your thinking certainly can help you lose weight!
