The Marriage Blog Week in Review July 23-July 26

The hot days of summer have finally arrived here in Texas, but it’s still not broiling us as temperatures remain in the 90s – instead, it’s the humidity that’s suffocating outside. A comedian once described Texas weather by saying if you go look at old Indian writings from a few hundred years ago they’d say: “Darn it’s humid in August” and I can’t imagine he was far wrong. August is just around the corner and we’re going to be looking at getting ready to go back to school and the effect that has on your marriage and your relationships because summer time seems to relieve some pressures and enhance others – at the same time, going back to school (especially for couples with children) is a time for routines to begin exerting themselves. But we’ll explore that more fully next month.

In the meanwhile, this past week we only had a few articles here in the marriage blog, so let’s take look at our week in review:

Monday, July 23

The 50 Reasons Why asks you to take a moment to pause and reflect if you are seriously considering divorce. Think about all the reasons you fell in love with your spouse in the first place. Try to come up with 50 reasons for loving them, marrying them and want to stay married to them. 50 is a lot and it means you have to genuinely think about what it is you want to do.

Tuesday, July 24

Forgiveness is an Action Word and to forgive or be forgiven requires action on the part of everyone involved. It’s not a passive act that grants a free pass for bad behavior, instead it’s an active and synergistic decision that requires energy from all parties.

Wednesday, July 25

Your Husband Needs …. a lot of things from you and you need to recognize this whether you’ve been married for five days, five weeks, five months or five years. Understanding what our husbands need from us can help to foster a better relationship in our marriages.

Thursday, July 26

Taking a step back to look at history is always fun and according to history, the question that needs to be asked regarding marriage is What’s Love Got To Do With It?. The answers might surprise you.
