Welcome to the weekend and the end of the Thanksgiving week and the start of the holiday madness. Yesterday got us all of to a rousing start. For those of you who dived into the Black Friday shopping craziness, I feel your pain – I was out there too. In the meanwhile, this was a busy week in the Marriage blog with guest blogger Valorie Delp paying us a visit as well, if you didn’t get a chance to check out her blogs, I encourage you to do so, she’s a great writer and brings her own unique perspective into the mix.

Coping with Holidays without Your Spouse discussed how painful it can be to lose a spouse and how that pain is revisited around the holidays and other special occasions.
Sunday, November 19
In Holidays when Your Spouse is Away from Home tackled the difficulty that married couples face when their spouse is deployed or away on business during what are traditionally family holidays. For many reasons, Sherry is right, it does feel like a piece of you is missing.
Monday, November 20
Dating: Staying Together for the Holidays talks about how couples may delay their break up until after the holidays and some of the ugliness associated with it. In The Strength of the Ego we talked about how a woman’s ego is stronger than a man’s and some of the reasons why and how this information can help a married couple. Emotional Landmines and the Holidays discussed the problems that married couples can face as they reunite with their families over the holidays. In Lessons from an Arranged Marriage Valorie discussed a couple that she knew who were married by arrangement and the lessons their relationship offers to others.
Tuesday, November 21
In Should Both Spouses Work? discussed some of the challenges couples face when they become parents and how more women are opting to stay home with their young children, but returning to work when their youngest heads off to school. Marriage is a “Team” Sport and Valorie doesn’t follow that thought to the expected conclusion. Check it out, it’s definitely worth the read.

Do You Fight Before, During or After Holidays? asks the question that many of us already know the answer to. The holidays can be a trigger for many a disagreement and Sherry addresses some of those. In Happy ThanksgivingSherry shares her Thanksgiving thoughts and more. In Family Traditions: A Day to Give Thanks I shared some of my own thoughts on Thanksgiving and how we blend traditions here. In A Note of Thanks: To My Husband I wrote a personal note of thankfulness for my own spouse.

Is Your Marriage Making You Fat? is a great question and I know since I’ve been married, I definitely put on some weight. Check out Sherry’s great take on this. Finally, The Craziness of Black Friday were a few thoughts that I put together on the shopping event of the season and how my husband was getting into it for the first time as well!
