The Mistress

How many men cheat on their wives, always promising the mistress that someday he’ll leave his wife to marry her? Some eventually do leave and then the mistress finally gets what she wants. But, at what cost? Is it really worth it to break up someone else’s marriage? Many women who play the role of mistress neglect to consider what it means for their own marriages, when and if they finally snag the man.

An old saying goes something like this: When a man marries his mistress, it’s because he wants to create an opening for that position. Simply put, he’s bored with his wife and his mistress and he wants a new one of each. The mistress becomes the wife, feeling that’s she’s finally in her rightful place, yet she’s only been moved into the role of cheated woman instead of other woman. Now, it’s her turn to feel the pain the first wife experienced, while the new mistress struggles to become the wife.

How many women will be hurt in this process, while the man continues to have his cake and eat it too? There’s no telling, since nearly every mistress will believe that she’s different and that he really loves her, not to mention that he won’t marry every woman he has a fling with. The woman really has no way of knowing how many woman he has used or will continue to use. Little does she know that it’s just a game, and it’s a game that only the man will win.

It doesn’t always work this way, but more times than not, it does. Any woman who fools herself into believing that such a man will change, that he will actually honor his vows with her, needs a good reality check. Why is she any different? The man did not honor his vows in the past, why would he now?

Deep down, she know it’s true. She’s already starting to wonder if he was really working late, or if he’s found someone else to fill her old position…

All women deserve better.
