The Mormon Mom Blog Squad

There really could be a squad for all the Mormon Mommy Bloggers out there. Actually, it would be more like an army, not a squadron. But, that’s beside the point. I recently wrote an article titled, Mormon Mommy Blogs, that talks about the obsession with these blogs. I have to admit, I’m part of that obsession.

Sometimes, I find myself looking at these blogs and my head is spinning. After all, I’m a MM Blogger too. I don’t have advertising, and sponsors, and loads of followers. I secretly might want all of that though. I don’t know, maybe I don’t. Regardless, I love looking at these blogs.

I discovered the one I follow most regularly (along with the rest of the blogosphere) when I was talking with some Mom friends at playgroup. They were all talking about this Nie Nie blog. Nie Nie, who? I had no idea. But, as they told me her story, I had to go find this blog! And, I did. I keep up with Stephanie Nielson and her blog on an almost daily basis. She is an inspiration. She had a pretty much normal life until she was almost killed, along with her husband in a plane crash. Their pilot, and friend was killed. Stephanie, aka Nie Nie was burned on 80% of her body. She has 4 children. Her blog is about her daily triumphs and struggles with coming back from her near death experience. She frequently puts me in my place (although not intentionally) about my own complaints on motherhood. Especially when she blogs about things like just wanting to pick her child up out of the bathtub, and not being able to.

I love the inspirational blogs. There is another one I discovered recently that is equally as inspirational. It is titled Joyful Jones. This couple has decided to try to find joy in their everyday lives. They also experienced a tragic miscarriage, that ultimately changed their way of thinking. They have decided to blog about their journey to move past that heartache, and overcome it by finding the joy in life. I love that.

Another one that will tear at your heart strings is A Daily Scoop. This Mormon Mommy blogger experienced a tragic loss too. Her daughter drowned in their backyard spa back in 2008. An unimaginable loss. She is inspiring as she writes about how she overcame that tragedy through prayer, and fasting. She is pregnant again right now.

We all suffer through tragedies in our lives. Some are more difficult than others. But, this is why I love the blogging world. We can uplift each other and strengthen each other through our stories. We can bond with people we don’t know, but people that we grow to love. I know that I have come away from reading some of these blogs and been a better Mom to my children that day. I honestly have.

There are also plenty of blogs out there full of fun and pretty things. There are hundreds of chic, fashionable blogs on photography, and interior design. They are all written by Mormon Moms sharing their thoughts on motherhood, faith, and life.

The last one I want to share (because there seriously are too many), is a fun one I discovered. The name alone made me laugh, and her blog is fantastic. It is titled, “The Meanest Mom” because her 4 children often call her “the Meanest Mom in the world”. What Mom hasn’t heard that? This Mommy blogger has her Ph.D., and writes about life in a way that will make you laugh, and think to yourself, “Those are my thoughts exactly!” She suffers from Crohns disease, and occasionally writes about that as well. If you want to dive right in, start with her “Best of” list. It is classic.

Mommy bloggers, whether Mormon or not, have taken over the internet. They are everywhere. And, I for one, am thankful for it. And, frankly, some days I think I’m just a better Mom because of it. So, to Mormon Mommy Bloggers everywhere. Thank you, and keep writing!
