The Movie “Five” on Lifetime part 3

Hello again, I am continuing talking about the movie “Five” on Lifetime. The next film was called Lili it followed a strong independent woman who wanted to face the cancer diagnosis on her own; or so she thought.

She wanted to go to the surgery to have the lumpectomy without any family or friends to be there. When she was waiting in the waiting room prior to surgery and saw a man waiting. Now when they first focused on him you thought he was there waiting on a friend or family but when Lili asked he said that he too was there as a breast cancer patient.

A lot of the time men are forgotten in the breast cancer fight. You very rarely hear that men should be doing their breast exams and that women are not the only victims of breast cancer. The man was there alone with no family or friends to support him.

Let me take a moment here to say that if you have a friend or family member that is facing the cancer diagnosis do not let them do it alone. Be there for them whether it is to sit with them through chemo therapy or to feed their dog whatever you can do for them do it.

SO back to Lili, she thought she could handle everything by herself that her plan was to have her assistant call and update her family when she was out of surgery but then she realized that she was overwhelmed and did in fact need her mother and sister. When people hear the cancer diagnosis a lot of what the doctor says goes in one ear and out the other. One thing that friends and family are great for is to help take notes at the doctors’ appointments. This way if the patient misses something because it is so over whelming that someone would have the notes for them.

If you have not seen the movie you can click here to watch it online.

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
