The Movie “Five” Part 1

Last night I watched the Lifetime Movie “Five” and normally I would not watch these type of movies because they usually make me cry. I had to watch it last night because I have had it taped on my DVR since it aired but we are getting a new cable service today so it was watch it or miss the chance.

Now if you have not heard about the movie it was a group of 5 short fills directed by 5 different women including Jennifer Anniston and Demi Moore. These short films follow five families impacted by breast cancer. The first one was following a woman who in 1969 was losing her battle with breast cancer. In this film the daughter was not told that her mother was going to die instead they sent the little girl away until the mother died. They mentioned how you would not have read an obituary with the word breast in it.

I will admit this when I saw the little girl go into her mother’s room before she was sent away I could not stop the flood of tears from pouring down my face. I actually stopped the movie and did not finish watching it for about an hour because I did not want anyone to see me cry from watching this movie. When I did compose myself and finish watching the movie I loved how they tied all 5 short films together. The little girl in the first movie grew up and became an oncologist in women’s oncology. The daughter grew to treat the next 3 women featured in the films.

All of the stories touched me but the story of the little girl who lost her mother and then pursued a career and calling to help other families touched by this awful disease was the first that made me cry. They all touched me but there was a three that moved me to actual tears each for different reasons but the tears were all the same.

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
