Beginning November 30th, the church website will be switching over to the new LDS.org. Have you checked that out yet? One of the features I have started playing around with is the scripture study tools online. In the days of the Blackberry, IPhone, and countless other devices that we have to pull up our scriptures online, this is a pretty cool new feature.
You have to create a log in ID to access these features. This is quick and easy, but you may need your membership number to do it. I did mine a long time ago, but if you are new to accessing the site, then make sure you have your membership number available just in case. After you have logged in, go to Menu at the top of the page. Click on the section that says Study, and then click on Scriptures. From there, you can choose what book of scripture you’d like to study. Some of the other study options available are church manuals, magazines, and General Conference talks.
Once you have chosen which book of scripture you would like to study, you will then need to choose a chapter. When you choose a chapter, you will have the following options:
Listen
Print
Download
Share
My Study Notebook
Hide Footnotes
In addition, if you click on a verse, you can highlight it, underline it, write a note about it, access footnotes easily, or link to other scriptures in the footnotes.
If you are preparing a talk on a certain topic, you can begin your study by topic. There will be an alphabetic list that gives you every topic imaginable! This website also allows you to create your own Personal Study Folder. Organize folders by topics, or by book of scripture to keep your own spiritual journal online that can only be accessed by yourself with your personal password and login.
It truly is the technological age, and this website is proving that the church is not behind the times. They are ahead of the times in helping us more effectively study our scriptures. Check it out today!
