The Notchland Inn

Travel Deals: Maine
Traveling to New England, especially in the fall, is a great way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. While traveling there a few years ago, we stayed at a place called the Notchland Inn in New Hampshire. I’m a huge advocate for bed and breakfast inns since you usually get so much for the price. This 1860s granite mansion is simply exceptional. Situated on 100 acres, this is the ultimate place for honeymooners or people just wanting some peace and quiet.

While we have been to many bed and breakfast inns, the hospitality of the owners for the Notchland Inn was unmatched. In all, there are seven deluxe rooms, as well as two large suites and four premium suites. Best of all, each of the rooms, features a wood-burning fireplace for those chilly nights, as well as a private bath. Now, if you want something a little extra ordinary, you could stay in a premium suite, which boasts a whirlpool and shower, or soaking tub and steam shower. Depending on the room in which you stay, you may or may not have the luxury of a private balcony as well.

Also offered at the Notchland Inn is a gorgeous parlor where you can read, play board or card games, or just kick back with a cup of steaming coffee. The Inn also has a music room that includes a piano as well as stereo. However, the views surrounding this bed and breakfast inn are unsurpassed. Even the Inn’s property is magnificent with Ficus trees and a granite floating ball fountain.

If you visit the Notchland Inn from Wednesday to Sunday, you will be served a delicious five-course meal in the dining room, which also features a wonderful fireplace and view of the gazebo outside by the pond. While you will find some of the dinners more elaborate, the skilled chef focuses on providing traditional food, coupled with international favorites. Of course, you would also be served a nice selection of beer, wine, or cocktails.

Some of the area around the Inn is the most spectacular. For instance, you could visit Saco River frontage, which runs for 8,000 feet through the property while offering guests two incredible swimming holes. Then, the Nancy Pond is a gentle brook that cascades down the Bemis Mountain and into the Saco River. If you love to fish, be prepared to catch some serious trout! If hiking is more to your preference, then the David Path, which ascends Mount Crawford, is a great place to explore.
