Another week has passed, summer arrived, and there was no Moose, Lally, Murphy, Kitty or Tabby chaos to report. (Phew!) Which means it was a quiet, yet productive, week here in the Pets Blog. Here’s what Aimee and I covered on:
Monday, June 18
Were you curious how Murphy, Tabby, and Kitty did for Father’s Day? If so, you’ll be happy to know all went well.
Tuesday, June 19
Did you know the Queen of England is a royal dog lover? I didn’t, but of all the things to learn about her after watching the movie “The Queen” that was the one I was most pleasantly surprised to discover.
Wednesday, June 20
Our nation’s bird has not always been given the respect it deserves. That’s why it’s important to celebrate American Eagle Day and the great comeback bird. So you want to get a pet, but you’re not ready for a cat or dog and aren’t partial to lizards of snakes. However, you would like something social. In Pet Rats: the Basics, Aimee explains why rats, often misunderstood, actually make great pets.
Thursday, June 21
If you do decide a rat would be good for your family pet, Aimee lists a few things you should consider when picking a pet rat. She also talks about frogs as pets, including which ones are more active than others and what type of care they need. My tribe and I are about to follow Aimee’s lead and move (not cross country, but a few states away), which prompted my discussion of the problem of selling a house with pets.
Friday, June 22
Aimee discusses pet rat housing options. (After all, once you get a rat, you’ll need to give it someplace to live right? Not all pet rat housing is created equal.) Cats adopt us, we don’t adopt them, as evidenced by author Deborah Elliott-Upton’s cat tales.
Saturday, June 23
There’s more to pet rat feeding than you might think. (Apparently you just can’t go to the pet store and buy a bag of pet rat food.) What the heck is a dwarf clawed frog and why would it make a good frog pet? Because they’re small and can live with other dwarf clawed frogs or fish of the same size. (Sort of a one tank fits all pet!)
Sunday, June 24
Aimee continues her pet frog profiling by focusing on White’s tree frogs and how to keep them as pets.
