The Pets Blog Week in Review for Oct 1-7

How did Aimee and I usher in October in the Pets Blog? Well, if you missed it, you’re in luck. Here’s your handy dandy Week in Review to encapsulate it for you in a nutshell.

Monday, October 1

Do you know what’s in your tank water? Aimee listed a number of things you should look for to keep your fish safe and healthy.

Tuesday, October 2

Aimee detailed the basics of the nitrogen cycle in tropical fish tanks and why you should put your tank through this process before you add the fish. Do you know what you get when you cross a zebra with a horse or a lion with a tiger? Zorses and ligers of course! (No joke! I sure thought it was before I researched it more.)

Wednesday, October 3

Aimee continued examining the nitrogen cycle that occurs in tropical fish tanks by exploring the three stages it goes through.

Thursday, October 4

In the next installment of Aimee’s nitrogen cycle tutorials, she explains why it’s better to start it fishless. I was back with another installment of my own, of the Chaotic Cat Chronicle variety. This time it was about the case of the missing wiffie.

Friday, October 5

It’s getting to be that time of year, time when lots of little goblins and ghouls will soon invade the streets. Some of them will be accompanied by their four-legged cohorts. I already have my picks for favorite dog Halloween costumes this year. Speaking of trick or treating, why not teach your dog some tricks? Aimee related the basics of what you’ll need to do and know in order to start the lessons.

Saturday, October 6

One of the most basic tricks a dog can learn is how to sit. Aimee detailed four methods that will help you teach your dog how to sit. And if they master the lesson and you want to reward them, I listed a whole bunch of cute Halloween pet toys that are sure to provoke even more tricks from your pup. (And cats. I did find Halloween toys for them too.)

Sunday, October 7

If you’ve got a four-legged trick or treater in your household, I found a slew of yummy Halloween pet food goodies you might want to treat them (and any other poochie treaters) with. They might like them so much they’ll want to shake paws with you. But if they don’t know how, it’d make a great tool to use to help you teach your dog how to shake.
