The Power of Feeling with The Braille Ring

I have great sympathy for anyone who has a disability. There are so many things in life that I take for granted that I never realize others miss out on. I usually never give a second though to the things that are simple to me like matching the color of my clothing in the mornings, pushing my children on a swing, and listening to music in my car. However, these things do come so easy for some.

Like the other things, I had never really thought about people who have never seen their wedding dress or their husband’s face or their wedding band. These things, I can close my eyes during any time of the day and picture without a second thought.

That is why when I came across an article in Paul Harvey’s newscast I was completely taken for a turn. Cornelis Hollander, a jeweler, has designed a ring for those who are blind.

His ring, “Love is Blind”, was created based on the Braille system. Written in Braille, the ring has the phrase “I Love You”. There are diamonds set in as each dot of the Braille system. Therefore, wearers can feel the words and the meaning of the ring.

The rings can be purchased in 14K yellow gold or in 14K white gold. The ring has 0.11ct diamonds. The price begins at $1499.

The great thing about the company is that it is giving 10% of the sales of the Braille system rings to nonprofit organizations that help the blind and visually impaired.

While I am sure that money is being made off of this idea, I was so touched that something like this has been created for those who cannot see their wedding bands. With the Braille system, they can always know what they putting on and feel the special meaning that it has.
