Whether you are born into the church or you join later on in life, you will have a point where you are converted to the gospel. Once you have prayed and received the confirmation that the church is true, the conversion process begins. Members of the church really do change as they embrace the gospel. I have seen it in my own life and in the lives of those around me.
The changes that come with full commitment to the gospel are not necessarily easy to make. There are many things that we do not do, such as drinking, and smoking. In some ways the things we should be doing are more important to a real conversion. Once we have committed to living the gospel, there are several small acts that we must do.
It is important to study the scriptures and pray daily. Church meetings give us the opportunity to learn and focus on the words of Christ. As we learn more about Him and His teachings, it helps us to become the people that Christ wants us to be. Setting aside time daily can help us grow and learn.
I remember when I decided to commit myself fully to gospel. At first it was difficult to attend church every week, and make sure that I took the time to read the scriptures every day. As I focused on studying the gospel, living its principles became easier. I know that it is important to continue to take time to do these things so that I continue to nourish my testimony.
True conversion is a process. You may have a moment that you receive witness that the gospel is true, and you make the commitment to live the principles. You become converted as you live the principles and see the blessings in your life. The changes that you make will bring peace to your life.
