The older I get, and the more experiences I have as a Christian living in a sinful world, the more I realize that a life as a Christian is a clean, pure life. The Christian life is pure and clean because Christians live to a higher standard than the world. Christians live their lives in obedience to the Lord. Consider a comparison of a Christian life and a worldly life.
- The Christian life is filled with wholesome speech and does not contain cursing. The Christian’s speech is encouraging to those around them and filled with thankfulness and praise toward God. The worldly life is polluted with harsh words and cursing.
- A Christian’s physical life is pure. The Christian body is not filled with alcohol or drugs. The Christian body is chaste. The worldly life is filled with impurities. The worldly body is tainted with alcohol and drugs. The worldly body is defiled.
- A Christian’s mind and spiritual life are pure. The Christian mind is focused on serving the Lord and others. The Christian is spiritually pure because they have been washed in the blood of Christ. The worldly life is self-centered. Those who are living the worldly life are lost spiritually, living their lives without God.
I realize that there are some in the world who live a moral life. However, simply living a moral life does not mean you are spiritually pure. I also realize that Christians do have sin in their lives. However, by striving to live the proper life, according to the Word of God, Christians should be consistently removing the trash of sin in their lives. Living a clean life should become a permanent habit in a Christian’s life as they mature in their faith. Christians should live as pure individuals in a black, sin-filled world.
