What is this thing called Segway and what does it want from the modern world? Read on for some interesting information.
The Segway, which burst upon the cultural scene a year or so ago was the brainchild of a man named Dean Karmen. A clever fellow, he has invented a fun form of transportation in the form of a self-balancing kind of scooter designed to go anywhere you want to go. It’s not only fun, but practical too, because it needs no fuel for its operation. It recharges from any wall outlet in your home or if that doesn’t work, your brain.
You need no insurance to buy or operate a Segway, although other people in the street where you are riding might consider buying some. There are no special lanes or new streets required to ride on them and no special skills are needed to operate this Segway thing. It makes it fun to commute quickly, shop, run errands and the like. I wonder about how one parks it, though.
It is said that continued use of the Segway is catching, and that it will transform your ideas about transportation. The ride is supposedly like nothing before experienced. (Neither is a roll down a stair-way banister. That doesn’t mean that I would try it!) It takes up minimal room on a sidewalk and according to its creator, was designed to look, act and feel like a pedestrian! Just like a person, the Segway can turn in place and balance while moving or standing still. (Unlike a person, it cannot consider alternate life styles as Cirque de Soliel circus performers).
Its lightweight frame makes accidental contact with people, animals or objects a harmless affair. I have just one question-
Do they make a Segway for formal wear, for inaugurations, weddings and such?
