Finding frugal fashions is hard enough when you are a “normal” size. But if you are a size 14 or above, there is a special challenge. Makers of plus size clothing charge more just because they can. Larger clothes are hard to find, so they can be at a premium. Still, there are some options.
Being a plus sized lady myself I have made all the rounds and know where to find clothes size 14 to 28 plus at a premium.
Walmart actually has cute plus sized clothing. You can shop there for all of your casual and business casual fashions. I like to browse the clearance racks when I go there a they often has t-shirts and tops on clearance for just a few dollars each.
Fashion Bug has great plus size clothes at a decent price. These clothes are designed for the younger set, but it is a great place to by jeans and trendy tops. Once again, I stick to the clearance racks and can get a full outfit for $20.00.
Old Navy doesn’t discriminate up to size 20. You can get the same clothes that a size 2 person can get right in the store. You can go online for a limited plus size selection.
Lane Bryant is well known for Plus sized clothing that are great for business and possibly even going out. I am not a fan and don’t recommend buying anything that you want to last for more than one season. The over abundance of lycra in the fashions make them fall apart pretty quickly.
For dressy clothes, I shop at my personal favorites, Ross, Marshall’s, and TJ Max. These stores sell high quality brand name clothing for less money. They typically have size 1x-3x (16-24)
Clothes above size 28 plus are even more difficult to find, but there are some options.
Ross stores sell up to size 5x. The picking may be slim on dresses but they always have jeans, slacks, shirts, and skirts.
There is an online search engine called OneStopPlus.com You can enter your size, the type of item you are looking for and search by price to find great fashions for less. This website will pull up items from dozens of stores saving you the time of searching each and every plus size website online.
