I love the smell of clean but let’s face it…with a house filled with children and pets; it can be difficult to come by. Thankfully we don’t have carpeting because I truly believe that helps to keep out the “pet smell.”
But it doesn’t matter…with three dogs, one cat, a bird, two bearded dragons, fish and a turtle…it takes a little work to keep my home smelling clean.
If you have pets, the key is to keep your pets and their habitats clean. I know that sounds really simple but it makes a huge difference. As for your children, well when they are younger you can make sure they are clean. As they get older, it can become a bigger challenge.
One way I have encouraged my teens to smell clean is by purchasing products they enjoy, such as “Axe” for the boys and anything that smells like lavender or vanilla for my daughter. But we aren’t talking about kids here, are we? We are talking about our home. However, I still feel they must be mentioned since they reside in our home.
So back to the house…housekeeping is about keeping a clean, neat and organized home. But clean includes smell. Ever walk into a house and get a whiff of a strange odor? It’s something that really sticks with you.
So one of the ways I incorporate an inviting fragrance into my home is to use “Febreze Noticeables,” which plug right into your outlets. I use one in my living and dining rooms, the bathroom and my youngest son’s bedroom. He houses the bearded dragons so he really needs one of these.
My most favorite scent is linen. I love the smell of linen. But you can choose from a variety of scents, anything from fruity to flowery.
My kitchen I actually prefer to leave to the smells of whatever is cooking or baking. I even enjoy the smell of garlic but I know that others don’t, so of course you could always light a candle or use a plug-in there.
Speaking of candles, those are also a wonderful way to keep your home smelling nice and they are so inviting as well. However you need to be careful that you never leave a candle burning when you are not in the home.
I also have a daily ritual that helps to keep things smelling clean. Every day I go through each room and spray either Febreze Air Effects Pet Odor Eliminator or Glade Tough Odor Solutions. It is amazing how spraying this daily makes a difference.
