We talked about Thursday’s top ten earlier today and I came up with ten more – so call this your Thursday Ten Plus Ten Tips for better fitness. These are all ideas to help inspire you, motivate you, guide you or just to think about. Some tips may work for you and some tips may not. What’s important is to discover what works for you.
I love my top ten lists and a top ten plus ten has got to be ten times better. So without further ado, here are my ten plus ten tips.
When it comes to fitness, I’m not an expert but I aspire to be one. The following ten tips are all things I do to help improve my fitness on a regular basis.
- Health and fitness magazines are packed with tips, ideas, suggestions and studies – I subscribe to three of them currently just to keep abreast of the latest changes. I visit fitness blogs and websites looking for ideas, thoughts and current trends – just visiting here daily helps you stay focused on a healthier, fitter lifestyle
- Learning to take a break can keep you healthier than you know. We’re always so busy. We’re always running. There’s always so much to do. Just when you think you’re going to get a break – life happens – so it’s important to recognize that a healthy, fit lifestyle requires downtime and don’t wait for the downtime to put on an appearance – make time for the downtime
- We’ve all got things to be grateful for, but it’s a lot easier to count off all the bad things that happen to us in a day than it is the good things. Try to think of a positive aspect of the day the next time someone asks you how you are doing or how it is going. By focusing on the positive, we are reconditioning ourselves from negative self-talk and self-description
- Other people criticize, other people make smarmy comments and other people sometimes say things that are upsetting – you have two choices – you can listen to all of the negative and incorporate it or you can listen to it and let it wash past you. It’s not up to other people to decide how you should feel – so while you cannot always control what people say – you can control how it affects you
- Sure, you don’t know everything. In fact, chances are you know a great deal less than you don’t. So what? We’re all learning, each and every day – learning is living. When you understand that – you don’t feel inadequate because you didn’t know something – you feel blessed that you learned something new!
- When a challenge presents itself, don’t get all panicked. We all go through difficulties. If fifteen minutes is too long, make it ten, if twenty pounds is too heavy, make it fifteen. Challenge yourself to exceed your own expectations
- So you started a work out program and you gave it up for whatever reason? Don’t get discouraged, just dig back down and get started again. Our lives are the sum of our experiences, good and bad – just because you gave up or had to give up on a fitness routine once doesn’t mean you can’t try again – in fact, I look at that as a challenge to not only do it again – but do it a lot better
- Eating a healthy balance of fruits, vegetables, lean meats, plenty of water and more is about keeping the inside of you as healthy as we do the Earth. Save the Earth – Save Ourselves – Save Ourselves – Save the Earth – it’s a symbiosis really
- Learn to pamper yourself – I love pedicures – they make me feel good about me and they are all about how I feel and not about anyone else. Pampering yourself is healthy and positive and encourages better self-image and self-esteem
- If something sounds too good to be true – it probably is. Don’t let other people profit on your dreams of better fitness and health – take it one day at a time – even the man who only walks ten steps in a day will eventually reach the mile mark
