The Top Five Reasons Why I Love to Exercise During Pregnancy

As hard as it is to get starting on a regular exercise routine, maintaining it can be even harder. We all know that there are a million reasons why we cannot seem to find the time or motivation to exercise, but we cannot deny the benefits of regular exercise. While we tend to focus on the negative aspects of exercise (overcoming obstacles, finding the time and motivation, etc.), there are even more positive reasons to start a workout regimen. Upon my own personal reflection of the last few years of my own exercise routine, I realized that I have gained so much from regular exercise. I have to admit that I really do love to exercise, especially, during pregnancy. Here are my top reasons for loving to exercise through out my pregnancy.

ONE – ENERGY: First exercise really helps my maintain my energy. I have also found that when I exercise early in the day I have more energy for the rest of the day than I do if I do not exercise. It is easy to get drained while pregnant and exercise is just the energy boost I need.

TWO – HEALTH: I am confident that my regular prenatal workout routine is helping me stay healthy by balancing my raging hormones and increasing my body’s ability to absorb nutrients and fight off infections. It keeps me “regular” (along with a healthy diet and plenty of water) and it is helping me keep my weight gain in check (again along with a healthy diet free of excessive indulgences).

THREE – MY BABY: My commitment to regular exercise is helping my baby grow strong and well. My physical exertions are strengthening her organs and helping her develop a strong metabolism and immune system. She will also have be less likely to develop diabetes and obesity later in life. She reaps the benefits of the hormones released when I exercise and the movement of exercise rocks her to sleep making her feel safe and secure. I love knowing that I am doing my best to give my baby the best start possible!

FOUR – STAYING IN SHAPE: It is so reassuring to know that regular exercise during pregnancy is helping me stay in shape. I love the burn that comes from working my muscles which also gives me the confidence that I am keeping my core strong too. Staying in shape also helps with aches and pains that comes with loosening ligaments and shifting hips and pelvis. I have found that exercise during pregnancy increasing my flexibility and really helps me maintain good posture, not to mention regular exercise is “training” for labor and the birth of my baby.

FIVE – FASTER RECOVERY: Knowing that my body will bounce back quicker after pregnancy because of my prenatal exercise routine is a great source of motivation. I know that I can get my abdominal muscles back and shed the weight that I have gained with my continued commitment to exercise regularly.
