The Twelve Days of Christmas

You know the song The Twelve Days of Christmas. What did your true love give to you?

Do you celebrate each day with tiny gifts? We don’t, but I was thinking it might actually be fun to do so, giving my husband a small but special gift each day until Christmas. How romantic.

Then, I looked around and thought, “Yeah, I have time to shop for and wrap twelve more presents!”

All kidding aside, I do think it would be a sweet way to celebrate the holiday. I tend to get all sentimental this time of year, so if it starts to show, just know that I’ll be back to normal soon.

Besides, the celebration in the song would start on Christmas Day and continue for the next twelve days. Instead, I thought we’d work our way up to Christmas.

Now, back to business. The real point of the this story is to remind you (and me) that there are only twelve more days until Christmas!!!

Let’s break that down. That means two more shopping weekends and eleven more shopping days if you count Christmas Eve. Just keep repeating these words, “I won’t be in the stores on Christmas Eve; I won’t be in the stores on Christmas Eve!”

Okay, let’s get on with the tip of the day, since we have lots to do:

If you haven’t sent it, send it. If you haven’t ordered it, order it (and check to see if you need to add rush shipping). If you have already sent it or ordered it, track it, and see if it looks like it will arrive on time. It’s amazing the amount of traveling some packages do to get from one place to another.

You should be able to find an estimated delivery time. Arrange for someone to be available to receive the package. If an item you ordered has not shipped yet, contact the establishment from which it was purchased and find out what’s going on. Sometimes, they have stuff on backorder and don’t say so. Ask for some reassurance that your item(s) will soon be in transit and will arrive before Christmas. If you’re not feeling reassured, it may be time to consider another gift as a back up plan.
