The Two Nap Day

Normally our son takes one nap a day. Depending on when he went to sleep the night before and when he decided to wake up that morning are normally accurate gauges for when we might expect him to take his daily snooze. Since summer has been in full swing for so long it’s been more common to have a late night, a late morning, and a late nap each day. This system, of course, perpetuated itself. The late rising kept a late nap and a late bedtime. At any rate, the one nap day has been his common operating procedure since he was an infant sleeping whenever he pleased. We’ve been thinking that he may be transitioning to no nap days (something that strikes terror into our very souls). I kid, of course, but we truly have been thinking that he’ll likely begin not sleeping at all during the day. Little did we know that with a lot of playing and running around that one nap day could turn into something I can’t remember seeing in recent memory: the two nap day.

We went on a little outing with grandma and grandpa where our son was free to roam relatively unattended in a mostly empty, vehicle-less town of yesteryear. All of the walking and running and overall joy-having must have worn him out really quickly because in just a few short hours we were making our way to the car and minutes after finding his way to his car seat he was headed off to dreamland like a pro. His second nap of the day. Somewhat of a shock for us. There he was taking his second nap. At any rate, he really enjoyed himself and we could tell by how tired he was. Good job son!
