The Value of Patience

As I am writing this my wife and I are awaiting a visit from our midwife which will determine whether or not our son, Cillian, has figured out to put his head down. The nice thing is that we’re no longer filled with anxiety about the possibility of his head still being in the clouds.

This weekend my wife finally came to terms with the possibility of a C-Section birth. We were at church and she said she finally accepted the idea as not being the worst thing in the world. Indeed, it is not. At the end of the pregnancy if we have a healthy baby and mommy we’ll be extremely happy.

Recently, too, we’ve been on the receiving end of some generosities of baby items. Some co-workers recently had some children outgrow their newborn clothing and presented us with a bag full and some leftover diapers. We also were given a baby monitor and, in the near future, a baby chair and a bottle warmer in addition to a blanket. Family has also not been shy about obtaining new and used items for our son.

Most heartening of all was the recent handwritten letter of assurance from my grandmother-in-law (who I’m now friends with on Facebook). Her words of reassurance about her late husbands battle with degeneration from a stroke as well as her wisdom (which comes with age I’ve noticed) arrived at a remarkable time in our mental struggle over the things we could have done better: 1) to convince our son to both stay head down (earlier) and 2) to convince him turn head down (currently). Some things you just don’t have much control over.

At this point I’m going to pause in the middle of writing to await the midwife’s evaluation of our son’s current position. The suspense is real for me… but this might just increase the suspense for you, the reader, as well.

ALT SUSPENSE!

Cillian turned himself around! Tonight will be filled with celebration. We will eat pudding and relax! My wife was almost in tears when she was told! Thanks everyone for all of the prayers and well wishing! Now our son just needs to stay the way he is until he’s born! Continued prayers and support are very much appreciated!
