The Wedding Ring is Back

I’m excited. The wedding ring is back. Yes, my husband was able to pick up his resized ring last week. It’s all lovely and shiny and back on his finger where it belongs.

‘Look how beautiful and shiny yours is compared to mine,’ I said putting my hand next to his.

‘No problem. We can polish your rings up for you,’ the young sales assistant offered.

‘You could, but only if it could be done on my finger. They won’t come off,’ I said. ‘They’ve been there too long.’

As well as getting his wedding ring resized, Mick got a dress ring I gave him for his birthday after we started going out together, so that ring is years older than the wedding ring.

I was thrilled that the jeweler managed to change the wedding ring and add gold into it without interfering with the sentiment and inscription expressed in the ring. It feels good to know the ring is back on his finger where it belongs and that he couldn’t wait to put it back on along with his dress ring which also has special meaning for him. He remembered exactly when I had given him that ring.

I love that he remembers things like that and that they are special to him, not became of monetary value but because of the sentiment and meaning behind them.

So we walked out of the jewelers hand and hand, as we go everywhere. The first thing my husband does after we get out of the car is reach for my hand and I like that. I like that after all these years he still reaches for my hand exactly the way he did when we were young. Physical affection is an important part of marriage and a good way of making sure your marriage partner feels special and that you are connected.
