The Woman with 23 Marriages

wedding rings What would you do if you said “I do” 23 times? No, I’m not talking about some Big Love, polygamist compound here, but one woman who has been married 23 times, consecutively, that is. And watch out guys, she is ready for husband number 24.

The Chicago Sun Times is reporting on Mrs. Linda Wolfe (born Linda Lou Taylor), who at the age of 68, is in the Guinness Book of World Records for having been married the most times.

Over the years, she has held the title of Mrs. with many last names attached. She says that even when she was a young girl, all of the boys on the block have wanted to marry her. And, perhaps they may still have a chance.

Out of her marriages, not one seems to have worked out. Wolfe says that two of her husbands were gay, two of them were homeless, and a few more were abusive. although she has now been single for 12 years, she looks forward to being married again because she says that otherwise it gets lonely.

Would you have had the fortitude to get married so many times? You might think that after the first dozen husbands didn’t work out that you might want to look into a dog or cat for company and abandon the idea of marriage. One thing that does strike me is how hopeful this lady must be. Even after all of the disappointment that she has been through in her 23 marriages, Wolfe still has hope of finding Mr. Right and confidence in the institute of marriage. I don’t know that I would emerge from such as life as positive about the whole thing.

With the story breaking the news, I wonder if matchmakers (or the Shadchans, as my friend calls them) will start coming out of the woodwork to help this lady find lasting love.
