The second cousin in our family is Danny. He is the second child of three and is very sensitive to things being fair. So his mom took great lengths to create a very special page for his part of the cousins’ book. She chose a cool blue and white checked pattern for the base of her layout. Danny loves Nintendo and Pokemon so she decided to accent the base with a lime green color as well as the green from the Making Memories (MM) kit. She cut two bold 3 x 6 inch strips of the lime green Bazzill Basics textured paper. She glued the strips of lime green paper two-thirds of the way horizontally down the page. Then she cut a 3 x 6 inch strip of the MM Kids series green for the name page. She glued that strip down vertically about a ½ inch from the left side.
Next she determined how she would create his name. Keeping in mind she wanted something bold and dramatic, she decided to use a Basic Grey Undressed Monogram for the first letter of his name. She pulled out the d, b, p and q of two packs to get the desired seven “d” letters. This is a great way to cost-effectively use the different letters in an alphabet set like the Undressed Monograms. She painted the letters using MM Blueberry craft paint so that each letter looked like a “d”.
Then she used the Quickutz Squeeze handle with the alphabet dies CK Typist to create the remaining letters of his name – a,n,y. Because CK Typist has both upper and lower case letters on the same die, she was able to mix upper and lower case letters to create a very cute combination. A Xyron machine is a GREAT way to get adhesive on the backs of small items like die cut letters. CK Typist letters range from ¾ inches to 1 ¼ inches, so they are pretty small to handle. Running them through a 2” Xyron Sticker Maker, she instantly had “stickers” in the right color and font for her project.
She attached the monogram using glue dots and then added the remaining die cut letters to finish his name. She finished the layout by attaching the vellum journaling block and using Hermafix to attach his photo to the other side. It truly turned out to be a bold and beautiful layout fit for Danny!
