Will you be in Orlando or Anaheim or Hong Kong this Memorial Day Weekend? If you are, be ready to parlay because pirate frenzy will be gripping Disney amusement parks around the world. Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End will be debuting on big screens May 24th and many Disney locations are preparing for their arrival.
A Pirate’s Guide to Orlando
Gaylord Palms Resort has just published its guide to all the pirate adventures you can find in the Orlando area. While many fans may be making their pilgrimage to the Pirates attraction in the Magic Kingdom, there is any number of locales that feature pirate themes and history in the Orlando area. The Resort will also be hosting its own Pirates Treasure Hunt Challenge. The challenge is designed to test the overnight guest’s mettle and intelligence, as they must solve puzzles, decipher clues and perform tasks of piracy for the judges. The winner will enjoy a $10,000 prize. Not a bad bit of booty there!
Anaheim Premieres Pirates Film
Over in Anaheim, Disneyland will play host to the Make-A-Wish Foundation fundraiser featuring the world premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End as we discussed before. The tickets for this premiere on May 19th have sold out and tickets were sold to attendees from as far away as Australia, Japan and Germany. The tickets cost $1,500 a piece. Among those tickets sold include one to a doctor in Canada who wants to send her mother as a thank you for everything she’s done for her including all the jobs her mother worked to put her through medical school. A soldier serving in Iraq is sending his parents from Oregon to the event to demonstrate his love for them.
What a great way to celebrate the premiere of this hotly anticipated ending to the Pirates trilogy – honoring loved ones, helping children and celebrating the imagination. Call it what you will – Disney has raised or donated over $10 million dollars for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and is often the host for many of those children’s wishes.
Pirates Take Over Hong Kong Disneyland
Starting this Friday, May 4th, pirates will be taking over Disneyland in Hong Kong. The move, considered unprecedented by some, began with the pirates arriving at the Disneyland Resort Pier where they demanded parlay with Mr. Bill Ernest, the Executive Vice President and Managing Director at the Resort.
The terms of the parlay will allow the pirates to be featured in multiple aspects around the park including, but not limited to games, contests, photo opportunities and much more. So if you’re looking for mischief, adventure and pirates – Disney may just have what you’re looking for – all over the world.
Did you ever want to be a pirate?
