Who knew a single zip code could help pay the bills for so many unemployed actors?
CW’s new version of the classic teen hit “Beverly Hills, 90210,” is turning out to be quite a savior for some otherwise washed up primetime stars.
Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling, who both appeared on the original show, have signed on to resurrect their characters of Kelly Taylor (who has grown up and become a high school guidance counselor at her alma mater West Beverly High School) and Donna Martin respectively.
Now word has it that Joe E. Tata, a.k.a. Peach Pit owner Nat Bussichio, will be cooking again on the new show, which is set to debut in September.
Tata was part of the original series that aired from 1990 to 2000 on Fox, and now his character will get the chance to give advice (and greasy food) to a whole new generation of Beverly Hills’ brats.
The part represents “lightning striking twice,” Tata told news reporters recently.
The 71-year-old actor said he jumped at the chance to bring back Nat, whose diner was the hangout of choice for the “90210” crowd.
Including Shannen Doherty’s character Brenda Walsh. By the way, rumor has it Doherty is currently in talks to return as moody Brenda, but network bigwigs are remaining mum on the subject.
Also set to return to the small screen is a family most TV viewers either really love or really hate—-the Osbournes.
Yup, Ozzy, Sharon, Jack and Kelly are reportedly in talks to host a new TV variety series in the United States.
According to reports, the as-yet-untitled show, will feature musical performances and comedy sketches, and may even include a segment dubbed “The Osbournes Meet the Osbournes,” in which the hosts will spend time with another family named Osbourne.
Scary.
Daily Variety is reporting that the six-part series, due to launch with a Christmas special, will play up the sibling rivalry between 23-year-old Kelly and her 22-year-old brother Jack.
Both Osbourne siblings have their own shows in the U.K. Jack stars in “Jack Osbourne: Adrenaline Junkie,” while Kelly is the host of “Project Catwalk,” the British version of hit U.S. fashion design series “Project Runway.” Meanwhile, matriarch Sharon still has her gig judging “America’s Got Talent.”
