I have talked before about how timing purchases strategically can really help you to score some fabulous deals. Now that it is February, you may feel like letting your wallet see the light of day again because you have had about a month to come to terms with those Christmas bills that nearly knocked you over when you opened the envelope. There are a few things that you may want to buy this month, if they are on your radar of things that you were thinking of purchasing some time soon.
You may be thinking of spring, but there is still plenty of winter left. If your winter coat is getting a little shabby, now may be a great time to get a new one. February is always a great time for buying a winter coat, but this year the selection is likely to be even better and the markdowns even greater because of the sheer amount of coats that are still on the racks at the stores because of mild temperatures this winter. If you choose a classic style, you can begin to enjoy it this year and it will still look fresh when you wear it next winter and beyond.
If you go out and buy a box of chocolates today, you may save a little if they are on sale. If you wait until after Valentine’s Day, you can stock up on your favorite sweet indulgences at deep discounts. Chocolate can be stored in the freezer, and if you are able to be disciplined enough not to eat through your entire stash at once, February can be a great time to build up your inventory.
Do you think that George Washington or Abraham Lincoln ever imagined that they would be the inspiration for huge annual sales on furniture and housewares? Presidents’ Weekend has become a major shopping event over the years and furniture and housewares are some of the items that truly are at their best prices during that time. It is time for new furniture styles to arrive in stores, and last year’s stuff is still sitting there taking up valuable floor space. If you are in the market for furniture, help those furniture retailers free up some space in their showroom while lightening the load on your wallet.
