Things to Do in April

butterfly The blue skies have arrived with hopefully very little showers. Outdoors is the place to be as we welcome warmer temperatures and the blessings of spring. Spruce up your home and your outdoor environment this month with some fun projects. Here are things to do in April.

Earth Day falls on April 22nd. Take this opportunity to chair your air filters to help your air filtration system run efficiently. Also, promote recycling in your home with labeled recycling bins that are in within easy access to the members of your family.

You’ll soon be spending a lot of time outdoors. Brighten up your walkways with path lights. You can choose from solar models or wired electric models. There are so many designs out there these days, from classic to modern.

Clean up your outdoor items, such as trash cans, furniture, plastic toys and more. Try power washing the items or using a cleaner such as Simple Green or Clorox. And while you are at it, you might want to consider changing out your patio umbrella and cushions if needed.

Create a new retaining wall or terrace using pavers. You can make your own or pick some up at your local home improvement store.

The 25th of April is National Arbor Day. Celebrate it by planting a new tree!

Get out all of your pool gear, outdoor toys and lawn-care supplies. Check them over and organize them. Either store them on shelves in the garage or shed, or in the case of pool supplies, consider purchasing or making a deck box to store them.

April brings showers, so check and replace any rain umbrellas if necessary. Make sure you have a place to store them, such as an umbrella rack. We use a tall kitchen garbage can in the garage to corral the umbrella. And if you need some ideas on what to do with broken umbrellas, click here: What to Do with a Dead Umbrella.
