This Week in Television – June 12, 2007

Top Chef Returns

I will be the first to admit that I love most reality shows. Whether it is something mainstream like “American Idol” or something a little more off beat like “Little People Big World,” I just love watching reality shows. One of my favorites returns to the air tomorrow night – “Top Chef.” Unlike other reality shows, I never watch the clock on this one. It seems as soon as it starts, it is time for it to end – too soon! This year the chefs are in Miami, so I wonder if we can look forward to some spicy Cuban recipes?

America’s Got Talent

This popular show is back for season two. Last week was the first night of auditions and tonight, they continue. I think the forerunner so far is saxophone player Mr. Big “Who’s the Guy?” Beal (yeah, I know, weird moniker!). As judge Sharon Osbourne said, he really owned the stage last week and finished the show in a big way. If you missed his performance, you can check it out here on youtube.com. Wonder what undiscovered talent we have to look forward to this week?

Last Comic Standing

Tomorrow night is also the premiere of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.” I like watching the auditions because you know the people are either going to be funny or dreadfully unfunny! But, once they weed out the bad and find the good, the comics are actually pretty amusing. I thought last year’s winner, Josh Blue, was hilarious, but I also loved Chris Porter and Michele Balan.

This year, the show goes international, looking for comedic talent in not only America, but also Sydney, Australia, London, England, and Montreal, Canada. There also a new host this year – Bill Bellamy. But, you will see a few familiar faces as season three winner Alonzo Bodden and season two contestants Ant and Kathleen Madigan return as the talent scouts.

About Libby Pelham

I have always loved to write and Families.com gives me the opportunity to share my passion for writing with others. I work full-time as a web developer at UTHSC and most of my other time is spent with my son (born 2004). I love everything pop culture, but also enjoy writing about green living (it has opened my eyes to many things!) and health (got to worry about that as you get older!).
