Meet Thomas Finchum
Thomas Finchum is the son of Thomas and Audrey Finchum. He comes from a family of athletes: his dad is a high school athletic director and coach, and his brother, Luke, was a catcher on the baseball team at Concordia University Wisconsin. His sister Lindsay is a former level 10 gymnast and Indiana state champion. Though he is now home-schooled to accommodate his training of five-and-a-half hours a day, six days a week, he was valedictorian of his class at Emmaus Lutheran Middle School.
Why Root for Them?
Thomas, 17, won four national championships and 10 international medals throughout the course of the 2007 competitive season. He won a pair of national titles on both 10-meter and synchronized 10-meter with partner David Boudia. Internationally, Thomas won a gold medal on 10-meter at the AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix and scored a career-high for a silver at the Canada Cup. He also won eight medals in 10-meter synchro with Boudia, including golds at the Pan American Games and AT&T USA Diving Grand Prix and a bronze at the FINA World Championships. In addition, he was recently honored as USA Diving’s 2007 Athlete of the Year.
