Those Great Consignment Shops

Consignment shops are great to shop at for people who do not have a lot of money to spend on clothes and various other items. They are also wonderful for people who tire easily of the “same old thing” or need clothing just for a short period of time, such as during pregnancy or the in between periods of weight loss.

Women who are pregnant generally only need their maternity clothing for about 7 months or so. In the early months of pregnancy their regular wardrobe should be fine. After the baby is born they can usually get back in to their prepregnancy clothing in a couple of months or so. The only reason to buy something new is if you can afford to or maybe for a special occasion while you are pregnant. Otherwise, it usually is not cost effective unless you are planning on having a large family. This is the perfect place to shop if you are only having one or two children. It will save you a great deal of money.

Dieting, ugh. Women who are planning on losing more than 10 pounds need to wear different clothing while they lose. As their waistlines shrink, their clothes can become baggy. Now some women love baggy clothes, but unless I am lounging around my house, I do not like them. Wearing baggy clothes while I am losing weight gives me the okay to eat because I feel like I have room to spare. This is not good for continued weight loss plans. The first place that I lose weight is in my hips. When my pants are loose I can feel how they sag. It is a bad feeling, especially if you are out in public because you know what you look like from behind and it is not pretty.

Toys. We all have too many of them in our house. They take up a lot of space that we could better use for other things. Kids outgrow their toys or get bored with them somewhat quickly. To buy some used toys makes good money sense. There are going to still be some toys that you want to buy brand new, but if you buy a few used items as well, it would definitely be a sensible move.

If buying from a consignment shop remember to always wash everything when you get home before using it. Consignment shops do wash everything, but just to be sure and so you feel better knowing you washed it yourself this would be for the best.

Save money and recycle by buying gently used items that still have some life in them. Remember, what is trash to someone else could very well be a treasure and a blessing to you!
