Three Things to Do on a Cloudy Day

daffodils Stuck at home with a cloudy day on your hands? Why not do one of the following activities? Take advantage of the weather and put those clouds to good use. The following three things work best when the forecast calls for a cloudy day. Enjoy!

1. Wash the windows. Professional cleaners know that the best time to wash windows is on a cloudy day. That is because direct sunlight can cause streaks when you are washing your windows. Have some cleaner and a good squeegee on hand for the best results. When the sunshine does come back, it will come streaming into your home through your brilliantly clean windows.

2. Do some planting. A cloudy day is perfect for planting. Your seedlings won’t dry out in the hot sun while they are waiting to be put in the ground. After they are planted, they will better maintain moisture in the soil, which is critical for new transplants until they get established. Another benefit? Without the hot sun beating down on you, you’ll be more comfortable, too. Plus, a little bit of color, if you are planting flowers, will brighten up the cloudiest of days right away.

3. Take some photos outdoors. Go for a pleasant walk in your neighborhood and take some photos of the scenery. Be artistic and creative, such as a close up of an interesting gate or barn, local wildlife, wild flowers, interesting city architecture, etc. Grab your favorite person and head outdoors to take some portraits. The light on a cloudy day is amazing for photo taking. You’ll be able to get some amazing shots that you wouldn’t have gotten otherwise. When posing a person, have them look up toward the sky for a bright gleam in the eye that is wonderful.
