Tips for a Tidy Bedroom

Bedrooms can get messy fast, especially if we don’t attend to a few simple tasks. First, a neat bed goes a long way to making the room look tidy, since it is generally the first thing that attracts the eye when one enters the bedroom.

pillows and pillow shamsIt helps to use bedding that isn’t fussy so the bed can be made easily. Straighten the top sheet and the comforter and plop the pillows on top. Done.

Another item that can lead to a sloppy look is clothing. Many people dress in their bedrooms, try on or change clothes throughout the day, and slip out of clothing and into sleepwear. Where do all those clothes end up?

It’s easier to toss a shirt or a jacket on the nearby chair instead of taking it to the bathroom hamper or the laundry room. Unfortunately, it doesn’t take long for this to become a pile. You might want to consider adding a covered hamper to your bedroom to avoid this problem. There are several very attractive options from which to choose. Also, consider placing an over the door hanger on the back of your door so you can easily hang up jackets.

Kicking off shoes can also make a bedroom look less than tidy. A simple under the bed storage box can fix this problem quickly. Slip the box out, kick off the shoes into the box (instead of simply pushing them under the bed) and return the storage container to its rightful position. You’ll not only keep your bedroom looking neater, but you’ll also be able to find your shoes easier.
