In many shops and stores, sales are in full swing, but they usually get even better the closer we get to Christmas (not to mention the great bargains after Christmas!). Yet, there are some extra ways that you can make sure you get all the best deals.
In Store Specials
First, check with your favorite stores for preferred customer discounts. You can call, but many prefer that customers ask in person. Ask the cashier at the check out or seek information at the customer service desk. Also, ask about in store coupons or other special promotions that are not always advertised in sales ads or fliers. This is done intentionally to reward regular shoppers, so make sure you’re getting all the special discounts that are available.
Mailing Lists
Some retailers have mailing lists that you can sign up for, which will send exciting offers right to your mailbox or inbox. These specials are frequently only available to customers on the list. You’ll also be notified earlier about other sales, such as when 10% is marked off everything in the store or when exceptional deals are offered only during certain hours.
Timing is Everything
Speaking of certain hours, you may find some stores that begin marking things down in advance for a big sale. Stores that are open late, or especially those that are open 24 hours, may begin marking down prices late in the evening, or right after midnight. If you’re up for a late night shopping trip, you’ll not only avoid the crowds, but you’ll also get your deals while the selection is still good instead of waiting until everything is already picked over.
Ordering Online
Some retailers or resellers offer great discounts for people who shop online. You’ll often find “web customers only” sales, but you may still be able to take advantage of them. In some cases, you can order online to receive the better discount, and then have the purchase shipped to your local store free of charge (they’re sending a truck anyway). You might have to specifically request free shipping, but it’s worth doing in most cases.
