Stay positive: it is easy to give up before you begin. Losing weight is as much mental as physical.
Explore the Outdoors: I tell my kids to get out and get your share of vitamin D from the sun. A lack of vitamin D is linked to weight gain. In addition, to vitamin D, the sun encourages the production of serotonin. Serotonin is the feel good hormone that helps deal with stress.
Eat Without Distractions: Avoid eating while doing something else such as reading, watching TV, texting, or talking on the phone. As much as you need to study, don’t eat and study at the same time. The distraction not only causes you to over eat but your digestive system does not work to full capacity. So when you eat…eat.
Eat Slowly: Eating too fast leads to over eating and does not let your digestive system do its job properly. When you do not digest properly your body stores more fat.
Brush Your Teeth: Here is a psychological tip that will actually help you not over eat. Brush your teeth! When you brush your teeth you are less likely to eat. So don’t wait until bed, brush them after dinner or your last snack. That will help keep you from eating late. I know it sounds silly but it really works.
Walking to Your Health: Walking is a great form of exercise. It will help to boost your metabolism meaning you will burn more calories more efficiently, which is what you need to do to keep your weight in check.
Drink Water: Do not drink your calories! The sugar and calories you drink does count! Drink the standard 8 glasses a day. Forget about juice or soda. Oh no, diet soda is just as bad. The fake sugar is harmful and studies have shown those who drink diet soda do not lose weight. In fact, it can increase your hunger.
Be a Wise Snacker: Pass by the chips and candy for a healthy snack. Grab an apple, carrot sticks, yogurt, etc. Just say no to sugar. Salty snacks like potato chips are also a very poor choice. But before you do anything drink a glass of water. Sometimes thrist presents as hunger.
Sleep: A lack of sleep can causes hormonal imbalances, how your body processes food, and mood swings. So get to bed on time and sleep well to good health.
