Tips on Picking Your Workout Clothes

Need some tips on how to get the workout clothes that you feel comfortable in and that still give you the look you want? After all, workout clothes don’t have to be fashionable, but if you’re like me – you enjoy something pretty whether it’s for practical purposes or not. So here are some tips for shopping for your workout clothes:

  • Go for loose tank tops rather than tight ones especially if you are self-concious about your chest or the extra weight carried there
  • Wear long shorts, sweatpants or loose pants – your thighs rubbing together in short shorts cause a lot of friction and it can be darned uncomfortable
  • Skip on the form fitting shorts or tight fitting shirts and shorts – you need the freedom of motion around your midsection and legs
  • Adjustable elastic bands are the best because you can tighten them up as needed after a regular workout
  • Cotton is better than lycra and spandex – you want the fabric to breathe
  • Invest in a sports bra for working out rather than a regular one – the sports bra can handle the sweat and provide you with the right support for the active lifestyle
  • Never wear your workout clothes two days in a row without washing them out – this may sound like obvious advice, but dirty clothes against sweaty skin can be more than uncomfortable
  • Avoid wearing loud prints, flowers or horizontal stripes on any area that you are not comfortable with the size of

Work out clothes should be great and you should enjoy putting them on. After all, part of the ritual of workout clothes is to get yourself into the right mental place to do your workout. What tips do you have about picking out your work out clothes?
