Tired Part 2

Having a home business and a family can be a source of great joy and exhaustion. Some days you are high on the blessing of home, family and a stable business. Other days you feel overwhelmed and want to lock yourself in the bathroom and let Calgon take you away. So what do you do on those days?

Know it will pass: When you are having a bad day it is easy to forget about the good days. Try to remember that you had bad days in the past and you got through them to see the good days. The day will end. Sometimes knowing that and a cup of tea will be just the edge to get your through the day.

Understand that sometimes it’s hard: We cannot expect perfectly planned days to always go perfectly planned. Some days will bring loss and not profit. There will be times when children are not perfectly obedient and milk spills. Expect to wake up late to find you are out of coffee and the dog got into the garbage. Just keep moving, stay focused and stand firm that you will not be brought down by a few bumps in the road no matter how big. You are stronger than that or you never would have been brave enough to start your own business.

Take a break: No one can work nonstop. If you are a work at home mom then you literally work 24/7. You need to plan time for yourself without feeling guilty. No one needs a mom who is frazzled and frustrated.

Plan a break: If you are in a crunch and everything is demanding your attention then plan a break. Get out your calendar for two minutes and mark down a time when you will take a bath, read a book, go out to lunch, go on a date night with your husband or take the kids to the movies. In a week you are certain to have at least two hours to plan something fun. Plan it, stick to it and look forward to it as you head down that dark tunnel to the light.

Cut your “to-do” list down: Take a realistic look at your “to-do” list. If it had more than six things then cut it down. Do six important tasks for your business a day. Cross them off as you do them and when you are done stop. Try it out and see how much more organized and revived you will feel.
