Toaster Oven

When my husband and I lived in our first home we had a toaster with two large slots big enough to fit bagel halves. I’m pretty sure we got the toaster as a wedding gift. It was a fine toaster and served us well.

When we bought our first house the previous owners left their toaster oven behind. I boxed it up along with all the Amway product they left in the garage and gave it to the real estate agent. I know why they left it; it was really dirty and it was easier to replace than clean.

Our great little toaster lasted for a number of years. I don’t remember when it died. I remember wanting to replace it with a toaster oven so that’s what we did. It was a nice toaster oven. I never got into actual cooking with it, though. I’m sure it would be handy for cooking if I took the time to explore that part of it. I play an online social game that uses a toaster oven to cook and a lot of the things aren’t thing I would even think to cook in a toaster oven.

My biggest complaint about my toaster oven is how dirty it gets. I love my toaster oven, but it is a crumb and grease magnet. Our ovens are self cleaning, which is a wonderful convenience. I don’t know how to clean a toaster oven. I’ve tried. The manual doesn’t given any useful tips at all. Easy-Off doesn’t make a toaster oven cleaner that I have found.

I did an OK job cleaning the toaster oven with Easy-Off and elbow grease. I wish I could put the crumb tray in the dishwasher. I think I’ll buy a new toaster oven instead of trying to clean this one again.
